This year’s Michelin Guide ceremony, held Tuesday night in New York, added two new restaurants to the star scene in D.C.: Causa and Rania, both of which won their first star. In addition, one restaurant lost its star: Cranes, the Japanese-Spanish fusion restaurant in Penn Quarter. Last week, two new local restaurants took home Bib Gourmand recognitions for the first time, adding to the ranks of the 27 returning Bib Gourmands in the District. Twenty-five Washington-area restaurants took home star awards, which honor excellence in cuisine from New York, D.C. and Chicago.
