Esiason was born in East Islip, New York, and lived there all of his life. He was dubbed “Boomer” before he was born. Due to his frequent kicking while still in the womb, his mother Irene gave him the nickname “Boomer.” He inherited his blond hair and blue eyes from his mother, Irene, a singer, dancer, and pianist who died when he was seven years old from ovarian cancer.
